I am a junior at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana. I am a journalism and writing major with a concentration in multimedia, and I have a minor in media communication. I hope to one day start my own literary/entertainment magazine in the Pacific Northwest.
I am the managing editor of Indiana Wesleyan's student newspaper, the Sojourn. Last year as the A&E editor, I had a weekly column called Title Track which evaluated the media as it relates to Christian spirituality. You can read some of the work I did with the Sojourn at IWUSojourn.com or in my writing portfolio.
I am in love with the children of Iraq. I spent the past summer working with Preemptive Love Coalition, an organization that funds heart surgeries for Iraqi children with congenital heart defects.
I am involved with a student organization called Doulos which focuses on and brings awareness to five social justice issues: poverty, hunger, human trafficking, war and AIDS.
I also volunteer at a ministry in my hometown called InAsMuch. At InAsMuch, I work one on one with clients that need financial assistance, food and/or clothing.
Some of my favorite activities include: drinking coffee with friends and getting into deep, theological conversations; reading twentieth century literature, blogs and non-fiction; going on road trips; and listening to music.
My favorite authors are J.D. Salinger and F. Scott Fitzgerald. To keep myself from sounding too cliched, my favorite book of Salinger's is not "Catcher in the Rye," but "Nine Stories." And my favorite book of Fitzgerald's is not "The Great Gatsby," but "This Side of Paradise."
When I'm not in class, I love reading blogs. Here are my top five favorite:
